Dendrophyllia alternata [Dendrophyllia alternata]

Description

Dendrophyllia alternata often forms branching growth with a distinctive, somewhat alternating pattern to its branchlets. Divers can encounter it as a compact reef feature that adds vertical structure to otherwise flat areas. Its textured branches are great for spotting small hitchhikers—look closely for tiny crustaceans and other microhabitat users.
