Crescent-Masked Butterflyfish [Chaetodon lunulatus]
Description
Crescent-Masked Butterflyfish, also known as the Oval Butterflyfish, is a small-sized fish that can reach a maximum length of 22 cm. It has a white body with a large black spot on the rear part and a black band through the eyes, which makes it easily recognizable. This species is widespread throughout the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific area, from the eastern coast of Africa to the oceanic islands of the central Pacific Ocean. The Crescent-Masked Butterflyfish feeds on coral polyps and small invertebrates.
