Coryne epizoica [Coryne epizoica]
Description
Coryne epizoica is typically found growing on living hosts, so divers may notice it as a colony attached to another marine organism rather than directly on bare rock. Underwater, it can appear as fine, branching growth with small polyp tips that may be more noticeable when the colony is relaxed. If you look closely at the surfaces of sessile animals, you might catch this hydroid in the act of colonizing.
