Chinese Lettuce Coral [Mycedium spina]
Description
This species typically forms thin, plate-like growths that look like a delicate, ruffled fan or lettuce leaf. Underwater, the coral’s fine texture and subtle ridges help it blend into rocky or reef crevices while still standing out in good light. Divers may notice it more when it catches current and flexes slightly.
