Catostylus tagi [Catostylus tagi]

Description

Divers may spot this large jellyfish drifting calmly through coastal waters, often appearing as a broad, translucent bell with trailing oral arms. In the right conditions it can look almost “floating” in place, with gentle pulsing as it moves with the current. Keep a respectful distance—its stinging cells can still be present even when it seems slow and graceful.
