Caryophyllia (Caryophyllia) corrugata [Caryophyllia (Caryophyllia) corrugata]
Description
This species is typically seen as a low, encrusting or patch-forming coral with pronounced, wrinkled or ridged textures. Under a diver’s flashlight, the uneven surface catches light in highlights and shadows, making it stand out from smoother rock. It’s a great example of how reef life can be both subtle and beautifully detailed.
