Carter’s Lanternshark [Etmopterus carteri]
Description
Carter’s Lanternshark is a small, deep-water shark that can be difficult to detect until it’s close to your light. Divers may see it as a dark shape with a faint glow—its bioluminescent pattern helps it vanish against the background while it patrols along rocky or sandy slopes.
