Caribbean Monk Seal [Neomonachus tropicalis]
Description
The Caribbean Monk Seal, also known as the West Indian Monk Seal, is an extinct species. It was a relatively large seal, with males reaching up to 240 cm in length. It had a brownish or grayish color and a diet that included fish and crustaceans. The species was last confirmed seen in the 1950s, with the major reasons for its extinction being overhunting and overfishing.
