Caribbean Lucina [Divarilucina caribaea]
Description
The Caribbean Lucina is a bivalve species found in the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. It typically lives in muddy or sandy sediment in seagrass beds. The shell is small and round, with a maximum length of about 15mm. It is white or cream-colored and has a shiny interior. Like other Lucina, this species has a special adaptation to thrive in low-oxygen environments.
