Buccinum gadusense [Buccinum gadusense]
Description
Buccinum gadusense is a whelk that tends to live on or near the seafloor, where it can be hard to distinguish from other shell-bearing residents. Divers who look closely may notice it moving steadily across the substrate, often in areas with enough food availability for scavengers. Spotting one is a reminder that the “background” of the bottom is full of life.
