Buccinum fringillum [Buccinum fringillum]
Description
This whelk is a bottom-dweller with a thick, spiraled shell that can look like a small piece of natural debris on the seafloor. When divers pass close, it may be seen inching along the substrate, probing and scavenging. In many areas, it’s most noticeable when the bottom is disturbed or when you slow down and scan carefully.
