Buccinum denseplicatum [Buccinum denseplicatum]

Description

Divers may spot this whelk as a sturdy, spiral-shelled snail tucked into rocky crevices or along the seafloor. Its shell often shows strong, textured ridges that help it blend with the uneven substrate. When you look closely, you can sometimes see it slowly moving along the bottom in search of food.
