Bowl Coral [Halomitra pileus]
Description
Halomitra pileus is another bowl-forming coral, often appearing as a rounded, cupped shape that can look like a small dome on the seafloor. Underwater, divers may see the polyps subtly change their look as they feed, especially when currents bring in plankton. Its sturdy, sculpted form makes it stand out among surrounding sand, rubble, or rock.
