Blurred Lantern Shark [Etmopterus bigelowi]
Description
At depth, this small lantern shark can look surprisingly ghostly—its body is dark and softly patterned, giving it a “blurred” appearance. Divers may spot it gliding slowly near the seabed or along rocky slopes, where its bioluminescent light helps it blend into the dim water.
