Balanophyllia galapagensis [Balanophyllia (Balanophyllia) galapagensis]
Description
In the right habitats, divers may find this coral as compact, stony growths that form cups or low mounds on hard surfaces. Its presence adds a subtle but beautiful texture to the seascape, and with close inspection you can sometimes catch signs of feeding behavior as polyps extend.
