Balanophyllia (Balanophyllia) cyathoides [Balanophyllia (Balanophyllia) cyathoides]
Description
Balanophyllia cyathoides can be seen as a compact, cup- or bowl-like coral form on sheltered hard bottoms. Divers may observe its polyps as small, active points—especially when the coral is feeding—adding a subtle sense of motion to otherwise still reef surfaces.
