Aplidium coeruleum [Aplidium coeruleum]

Description

This tunicate is often recognizable by its bluish or blue-toned appearance when conditions and water clarity are favorable. Divers may find it covering parts of rock in thin sheets, sometimes with a delicate, uneven surface texture. It’s a calm, stationary sight—yet very much alive—filter-feeding as water flows over its body.
