Aplidium chthamalum [Aplidium chthamalum]
Description
This species forms colonies that cling to sheltered, rocky habitats, where divers may notice it as a compact, encrusting or lumpy growth. Depending on lighting and water movement, the colony can appear slightly translucent or vividly colored against the substrate. It’s the kind of tunicate that rewards careful scanning of ledges and shaded walls.
