Aplidium caelestis [Aplidium caelestis]
Description
This colonial tunicate typically forms clustered patches that can look subtly colorful against the seafloor. Divers may spot it as a living “carpet” or bumpy coating, with many tiny openings that give the colony a speckled or porous appearance. Because it’s stationary, it’s best seen by slowing down and scanning the substrate for texture and color.
