Aplidium bilinguae [Aplidium bilinguae]

Description

This colonial tunicate often appears as a thin, attached growth that can resemble a delicate patchwork on rock or reef surfaces. Underwater, divers may observe the colony’s texture and the small apertures of individual zooids, giving it a subtly “peppered” look. It’s a great example of how many tiny animals can combine into one visible living community.
