Alcyonium profundum [Alcyonium profundum]
Description
As its name suggests, this soft coral is often associated with deeper environments where light is limited. Divers who reach suitable depths may find it attached to hard substrates, forming spreading patches or compact growths. In the dimmer water, its subdued colors and soft, fleshy texture stand out, especially when a dive light sweeps across the colony.
