Alcyonium pacificum [Alcyonium pacificum]
Description
Alcyonium pacificum is a soft coral that divers may encounter as thick, fleshy colonies attached to rocks or other stable surfaces. Depending on local conditions, it can range from muted tones to more noticeable hues, standing out in crevices and along slopes. In current, the colony’s form can subtly shift, and the fine texture of its polyps becomes visible up close.
