Acropora caroliniana [Acropora caroliniana]
Description
This acroporid coral is often seen as branching colonies that contribute to the reef’s three-dimensional structure. Underwater, divers may notice the coral’s tips and branches forming a busy microhabitat where small fish and crustaceans find cover. In good visibility, the colony can look vibrant and intricate, with the branches creating natural “lanes” through the reef.
