Deepwater Psammocora [Psammocora profundacella]
Description
The Deepwater psammocora or Psammocora profundacella is a species of hard coral found in the tropical Pacific Ocean. As the name suggests, it is typically found in deeper waters compared to other species of the genus. It has a unique form of thick encrusting plates with small cone-shaped corallites. This species is known to inhabit reef slopes and walls, often in areas with moderate to strong currents.
