Porcupine Ray [Urogymnus asperrimus]
Description
The Porcupine Ray is named for its unique, spiny skin. It is found in the tropical waters of the Indo-West Pacific, from the Red Sea and East Africa to Micronesia, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. It is a benthic species that inhabits lagoons and seaward reefs. It feeds mainly on small fish and invertebrates.
