Blackmouth Lanternshark [Etmopterus lucifer]
Description
The Blackmouth Lanternshark, or Etmopterus lucifer, is another member of the Etmopteridae family. This shark is known for its unique mouth, which has a black coloration that contrasts with its body's lighter grey. It has a small, slender body, usually not exceeding 50 cm in length, and lives in deep waters, typically between 200 and 1,000 meters. The Blackmouth Lanternshark is found in the Western Atlantic from North Carolina to southern Brazil.
