Herringbone Coral [Pavona serrata]
Description
Pavona serrata, commonly known as Herringbone Coral, is a species of hard coral found in the tropical Indo-Pacific region. This species forms large, thin plates in a herringbone pattern. The plates are usually brown or greenish-brown with white or cream-colored edges. They are usually found in shallow, sunlit waters and can tolerate a range of environmental conditions. They feed on small particles from the water, including plankton, and also gain energy from symbiotic algae living in their tissues.
