Ornate Cassiopea Jellyfish [Cassiopea ornata]

Ornate Cassiopea Jellyfish
Description

The Ornate Cassiopea Jellyfish is known for its distinctive upside-down posture. This species is usually found in warm, tropical waters, often in shallow mangrove swamps, mudflats, and turtle grass flats in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It exhibits a unique behavior of photosynthesizing by hosting symbiotic algae in its tissues, which gives it a greenish color. The Ornate Cassiopea Jellyfish has a flattened bell and long, delicate tentacles, which can cause mild irritation to humans.
