Knobbed Triton [Charonia lampas]
Description
Divers may spot this large, sculpted sea snail cruising slowly along rocky bottoms and seagrass edges. Its heavy, knobbed shell and bold patterning make it stand out, and it often appears to “hover” close to the substrate as it searches for prey. With a bit of luck, you’ll see it using its long proboscis to feed on other mollusks.
