Lambis sowerbyi [Lambis sowerbyi]
Description
This spider conch is often encountered as a patterned, spiny shell resting on the seafloor, where it can be easy to overlook at first glance. Divers who slow down and scan the bottom may notice its characteristic extended shell features and textured surface. It’s a great example of how conchs can look both intricate and tough, even when they’re stationary.
