Hypselodoris violacea [Hypselodoris violacea]
Description
As its name suggests, this nudibranch often shows violet or purple tones that make it stand out on darker rocks and sponge gardens. Divers may see it perched on or moving across sponge-covered surfaces, where it feeds and uses its coloration as a striking reef “accent.” It’s a great subject for close-up viewing, especially when the animal pauses and the gill structures are clearly visible.
