Thick-stemmed Hydroid [Eudendrium capillare]
Description
Eudendrium capillare, commonly known as the thick-stemmed hydroid, is a species of hydroid cnidarian in the family Eudendriidae. It is native to the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Black Sea. The colonies can be up to 25 cm tall and are formed by an irregularly branched, thick, dark brown stem. The hydranths are borne on short pedicels and are surrounded by protective chitinous cups.
