Octopus microphthalmus [Octopus microphthalmus]
Description
This species is typically encountered in deeper or more sheltered habitats, where it can be surprisingly well camouflaged against rocks and sediment. When it emerges, divers may see a cautious, deliberate approach—tentacles probing the substrate—followed by rapid retreat back into its hiding spot.
