Octopus hawaiiensis [Octopus hawaiiensis]
Description
In Hawaiian waters, this octopus is often encountered near rocky bottoms and reef edges, where it patrols for food between shelters. Divers may see it peering out from holes or under ledges, then slowly extending an arm to investigate—sometimes with a sudden, jet-like escape if approached.
