Lesser Pacific Striped Octopus [Octopus chierchiae]
Description
Divers may spot this small striped octopus tucked into crevices, where it uses its patterning to blend into rocky or sandy surroundings. When it feels threatened, it can rapidly change color and texture, and it may “freeze” in place before darting away.
