Weedy Scorpionfish [Rhinopias frondosa]
Description
Divers often spot this scorpionfish by its uncanny, weed-like camouflage—its frilly, branching skin helps it blend into rocky bottoms and seagrass. It tends to perch motionless in crevices or among algae, then suddenly becomes noticeable as you pass close. With its big mouth and alert eyes, it’s a classic “look closer” species.
