Buccinum frustulatum [Buccinum frustulatum]
Description
Buccinum frustulatum is a whelk you’re likely to encounter on deeper or cooler seabeds, where it moves slowly over rocks and sediment. Divers might spot it perched on the bottom, its shell pattern helping it blend with the surrounding substrate. It’s a great example of how even “quiet” seafloor life can be active and purposeful.
