Buccinum epifragilum [Buccinum epifragilum]
Description
This whelk is usually found on the seafloor, where it can be difficult to notice until you spot its distinctive spiral shell. Divers may see it partially tucked into the bottom’s texture, using its foot to move steadily along the substrate. With patience, it can be a rewarding find—an understated predator/scavenger that shows how life persists in the quiet spaces between rocks.
