Crested whelk [Buccinum cristatum]
Description
The “cristate” look comes from raised, crest-like features on the shell that catch the light as it moves. Divers may see it slowly gliding over the bottom, sometimes partially sheltered in uneven terrain where it can hunt or scavenge.
