Amazonian Manatee [Trichechus inunguis]

Amazonian Manatee
Description

In the Amazon, divers may encounter the Amazonian manatee as a slow-moving, curious grazer that glides through warm, often tea-colored water. With a rounded body and whiskered face, it may approach to investigate, then drift away while feeding on aquatic plants. Expect calm, unhurried behavior—more like a gentle river visitor than a “showy” animal.
