Marsha’s Lanternshark [Etmopterus marshae]
Description
Marsha’s lanternshark is a small deep-sea shark that divers are most likely to encounter on deeper dives or in areas with access to mesophotic to bathyal depths. At night or in low light, its subtle, bioluminescent “lanterns” can make the shark look faintly speckled or softly glowing as it cruises along the seafloor.
