Aplidium caeruleum [Aplidium caeruleum]

Description

Aplidium caeruleum is known for its striking bluish tones, which can stand out on rocks, ledges, or other hard-bottom areas. Divers may see it as a dense, colonial growth with a velvety or bumpy surface texture. With careful observation, the colony’s many small incurrent openings become visible, revealing the “busy” filter-feeding lifestyle of tunicates.
