Aplidium annulatum [Aplidium annulatum]

Description

Divers may notice this tunicate as a small, encrusting or loosely attached patch on rocks and hard substrates. Its surface often shows subtle banding or ring-like markings, giving it a distinctive, patterned look in shaded crevices. When water moves, the colony can look slightly “alive,” with tiny openings (siphons) that hint at the animal’s filter-feeding lifestyle.
