Aplidium abditum [Aplidium abditum]

Description

This tunicate (a type of sea squirt) can look like a small, encrusting patch on rocks or other hard surfaces. Divers may notice it as a subtle, textured “carpet” or lumpy growth, and with time it becomes easier to pick out the individual openings where water flows in and out.
