Sea Nettle [Chrysaora quinquecirrha]
Description
The Sea Nettle is a species of jellyfish native to the East Coast of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico. It has a bell that can reach up to 30 cm in diameter with long, slender tentacles and four long, frilly oral arms. Its sting is painful but typically non-lethal to humans. It primarily feeds on zooplankton, ctenophores, other jellyfish, and sometimes crustaceans.
