Palythoa glareola [Palythoa glareola]

Description

This palythoa typically forms spreading colonies that cling to hard substrates, sometimes covering more area than you’d expect for something that doesn’t look like a classic coral. Divers may notice small openings where polyps sit, and with gentle currents the colony can appear to shimmer or pulse as polyps extend and retract.
