Mycedium umbra [Mycedium umbra]

Description

This Mycedium species often appears as a darker, more subdued version of the lettuce-coral look, forming thin sheets or lobes on the reef. Divers can spot it by its textured, leaf-like surface and the way it holds its shape while still responding to flow. In shaded reef areas, its muted tones can make it blend in—until you get close and see the fine polyp detail.
