Larger Star Coral [Favites complanata]
Description
Divers often notice this coral as a broad, plate-like star coral with thick, rounded lobes that form a sturdy, “starry” look. In clear water, its pale to brownish tones and textured surface stand out, especially when light catches the ridges. It’s a great species to spot on reef slopes and in areas with moderate current.
