Hedgehog Coral [Echinopora hirsutissima]
Description
Divers often spot this coral as a low, bumpy mound covered in tightly packed, spiny-looking projections. In clear water, its rough texture and subtle color variations make it stand out against sand or rubble bottoms. When currents pass, the surface can look especially “bristly,” giving it that hedgehog-like character.
