Lesser Knob Coral [Cyphastrea kausti]

Lesser Knob Coral
Description

Divers may recognize Cyphastrea kausti by its compact, knobby growth form that forms tight patches on the reef. The colony’s surface often looks finely sculpted, and in favorable conditions polyps may be more noticeable, giving the coral a slightly “active” appearance. It’s an excellent species for reef photographers and for divers who enjoy hunting for the smaller, textured corals.
